Irwin Lines
The Irwin line, as far back as we have been able to document, is to William Irwin/Irvine who emigrated from Ireland to Pennsylvania where he settled in Cumberland County, PA. We would never have gotten that far had it not been for the Irwin family and friends we have found in the last year of our search. Here's what is know about this family.
William(1) Irvine or Irwin emigrated from Ireland possibly in the mid-1700's. We do not know if he came as a child or an adult ready to take on the colonies' frontier. He settled in the areas of Antedam Creek and Stovertown, PA. This William had at least three sons: Robert, James and John.
Today the descendents of these Irwins are known to be in AL, CA, FL, GA, IL, KY, MO, NM, OH, OK, TN, and TX. If you find that you are one of these, we invite you to join our informal email group which focuses on sharing of information on the line from William(1) on down. It is due to the descendents of John1 Irwin that I have been able to post so much on the Irwins. I want to take this opportunity to thank them for their willingness to share their part of the puzzle to help others complete the whole. Hopefully we'll soon begin to go back up the tree from William1. Just email Carla and state briefly how you fit in or how you think you might fit in- we'd love to have you take part!
